  2. i think the speech was well written. ALso, i think that Carter SHOULD have tried another rescue attempt. Personally, i think he should have done everything in his power to retreive the hostages from Iran. If it was me, i would not have rested until all the hostages were freed. I think President Carter has better composure in front of the camera as opposed to joe Biden. =P hahaha

  3. Okay so I don't like President Carter. He is trying to down play how bad the attempt was and the fact that people injured. He should have just admitted that the attempt wasn't good and moved on. He should have tried to do another attempt though. If I was a hostage and my country wasn't doing everything possible to get me out I would be furious and feel abandoned. He should have kept doing everything in his power to get those people home.

p.s. what is up with his hair? its is taupee?

  4. I don't think it's fake.....I agree with your point Moriah....I would have been pretty upset if my country didn't try to save me

  5. I didn't really like the speech at all. It felt like it was poorly planed and he was reaching for the right words to say. I think they should have tried again to get theose people out of Iran. I agree with Moriah that i would be very upset if the country didn't try their absolute hardest to get me out of there, however i did like how he made it certain that it was him who was responsible for the mission and for cancelling it, he didn't blame it on any one else.

  6. Katie, I would have to agree with you as well about Pres. Carter not blaming anyone else. He took full responsiblity for the failure of the mission and calling the mission off.

  7. I don't think President Carter is a very good speaker. He has a very monotone voice, but his speech was respectable. He acknowledged that it was his idea to cancel the mission. I think that was a smart move if there were technical difficulties, but I think he should have attempted another one. Those hostages didn't ask to be captured. It's the President's job to get them out.

  8. I think he should have made another attemp. If I was in his position, I wouldn't have given up so easily on my own people. He seemed to feel comforted when he said the Iranian authorities should have been able to do more since it was within their own country. Even though that is true, the U.S. should be able to show(Iran and the viewing world) that it can take care of it's people on its own.

  9. I thought President Carter's speach was alright. It was not written very well, but I like how he took the blame for the mission and for calling it off. I think he he should have attempted another mission. Since he was the president of the U.S. he should have tried another mission to he hostages from his own country out of Iran.

  10. 'Twas hard to listen to the speech due to monotone voice, but for the most part, he seemed detached from what he was trying to say. But I am sure that he was pursuing other options, so he technically gave it another go, to which I like. But the Iranians really must've hated what he did to just let go of the hostages the day he left office... That must've been like the bird in the face.

  11. I thought his speech was alright, it could've been better though. He doesn't really have a good voice to be doing speeches, however. I thought that it was good that he blamed himself in the fact that he stopped the mission. I think that he should've tried to rescue again because there was no reason for them to be captured for that long, but I think he was probably scared becaus the last one failed. I also agree with Moriah that his hair does sort of look like a taupee.

  12. I agree with Libbi. President Carter's speech was painful to listen to because his voice is so monotone. It bored me almost to tears..no joke. I thought the speech almost displayed lack of interest. It was poorly planned and they definately should have tried harder to get the people out of Iran. He made it seem like the attempt failed and thats that. Another attempt definately could have been made to save those people. He should care more about his people.

  13. I thought that he made an okay speech explaining the rescue mission and why it failed. He did say that he wanted to get the hostages home but i think he should have tried again. I would want my country to try and rescue me. However, I can see how it might cause conflict between countries. Also, President Carter did accept that he was the one who called off the mission. A second mission should have been made though. -Sarah

  14. well it just erased my first one, not cool barbuto.
Because Carter made little attempt to go and rescue the hostages, I have little respect for him. He may haved taken the blame for the failed attempt, but I dont feel like he ever really realized the horror in it. I feel like he needed to keep trying to be forgiven.

I thought that it was a good speech on the basis of the fact that President Carter took responsibility for the failed attempt to save the hostages in Iran. I also have great respect for Carter because he called off the mission and prevented any further missions from taking place. I respect him for this because if he had pursued further missions they may have resulted in more deaths. I'm sure the family of the hostages were not happy in his decision but knowing what we know now about the outcome in agree with his decision.

P.S LOOK MR. BARBUTO!! I COMMENTED THIS TIME! Lol.

  17. I feel like his speech is good, but i dont think he should have quit trying to get the hostages out of the embysay. However I do think that he took full responsiblity of what happened in the situation

  18. I think that President Carter's speech was okay. I liked how he constantly was putting the blame on himself. He kept stating that he ordered everything to be done. I think we should have continued trying to rescue the hostages, although I understand why he stopped trying. He thought he was making the situation worse be sending more people to maybe die. Meryl

  19. Watching President Carter give his speech made me feel really bad for him. You can tell he wasn't really cut out to be a president but he's trying his hardest. The delivery of the speech was terrible, but the poor guy just seemed really nervous. I liked how he took full responsibility for the failed attempt, but he should have kept trying. I think Meryl is right though and that he stopped trying to avoid more people getting hurt.
